Hello Everyone!
Today I want to talk about someone special, no it is not a guy but rather someone from my family that died a long time ago when I was still a little girl, i don't remember exactly how old I was but i only know that me and the rest of my family cried when we found out that she had gone forever. I admire my Aunt Carmen second to my mom because she has taught me how to never give up and to achieve my dreams and goals no matter what difficulties life throws at you. I've had to learn the hard way by my Aunt, that education is really important and is something in life that we as humans should do if we want to succeed, survive, or do something in our lives. When I lived in Mexico for a while with my Aunts and Grandparents I went to school over there during first and second grade, it would be difficult for me to turn in my homework everyday and to do it. I know that my Aunt only wanted us to do better so that we can succeed by making us study with her everyday so that way me and my twin sister do not forget what we learn in school. I am grateful for letting my Aunt teach me and my twin sister, Jennifer to read, and write in Spanish because of that now i completely have an advantage at a getting a job quicker because nowadays every company hires someone faster whose bilingual than someone who only knows one language especially if you're working at a restaurant or a clothes store, or hotel and other places where people from other countries come to visit it's always a great idea to learn three or four languages or at least two. My Aunt was mostly considered like my second teacher:) But eventhough she was strict at times she was also a really supportive and understanding person, someone who had care and compassion for others and for her own family. What I never knew about my Aunt Carmen is that my mom once told when we were looking at the old pictures of my family, I found a picture of this boy from Africa that she used to sponsor, my mom told me that she used to do a lot of charity work and that she would donate money to the boy every month. When my mom told me that i was amazed at how much my Aunt really cared and wanted to make a difference in the world. Another thing that I did not know about my Aunt was that she was studying to become a teacher, I was all I never knew my own aunt wanted to be a teacher!:) and to think that my own mother wants me to be a teacher too. Another thing that my own adventorous aunt did was travel alot to different countries, she would go a lot to Spain because that was her favorite place to visit all of the time and I remember my mom told me that she herself wanted to take me and my twin sister one day also, saying that she really wanted us to go visit Spain because it's such a beautiful country. My Aunt also knew a lot of successful and important people during her travels she also met a guy in Spain whom she madly fell in love with and he also fell in love with her also so they decided to get married a few years later after they had dated for a while. What's sad is that my parents never really wanted to tell me clearly of what my aunt died of, the only answer they would give me all the time was that she had died of stomach cancer, but then a few years later i told my mom to tell me the truth and she told me that she had died of one of the worst diseases anyone can get, AIDS, i was horrified at what my mom told me and what's more worse is that she died while being pregnant also. I was so sad when my mom told me finnally the reason of why she had died, she gave her life to be with her husband in heaven and although it hurt me to realize that i was never going to see her again I knew I had to move on and just have those old memories of the past in my mind. Sometimes I regret not seeing her during her last few years that she had left of the disease that was eating her away. She will always be in my heart and memory forever. The most valuable thing she has thought me was to have compassion for other and to reach out to others when they need it the most, to have respect for others, and to only surround myself with positive people, just as she did i am also doing it. I just hope that one day I can be like her also.
