Hello Everyone!
I am going to start writing helpful and positive blog posts for teenagers all over the world. The first blog post that I am going to post is about finding your own confidence. I am 22 years old now but I still feel that I am not done being a teenager because I still love to feel young. I always like to believe that I am beautiful in my own way no matter what others say or think about me.
But when I was a Freshman in high school it was always hard for me to believe that I am beautiful in my own way. There was a period of time during my Preteen years and early high school years when I was a really self conscious girl. I would never raise my hand in front of the class or have the confidence to speak to others, even to strangers I did not know, my fear would make it harder for me to meet new people. Don't get me wrong I love meeting new people and getting to know others but the fear of what others might think about me made it complicated for me to open up to other teenagers my age especially when it came to guys; I was a total mess with guys, there was a time when I had a huge crush back in eighth grade, with this boy named Joseph O'Toole, he was such a friendly and nice boy that I would blush every time I saw him or not know what to say when he would speak to me. The only far I got to him was greeting him anytime I saw him, that is it! I think that if I would of shook off my fear and mustered up some confidence in me then maybe me and him would of dated, I don't know or maybe just been close friends, who knows?
So now that I shared a small story about me and my struggle with self confidence, here are a few tips that I found really helpful in finding my own confidence. Now I am not so self-conscious as I used to be in my early teenage years. I listen to music, i love music so much because it has helped me gain confidence in myself, write my own feelings in my journal, draw or color (that's always fun for me!), and talk to myself or read an encouraging quote.
Two things not to do: bite your nails (I used to do that a lot, or bite your lips) also do not twirl your hair because then it means that you are not confident and that you are scared of something.
How do you find your own confidence when faced with a tough dilemma or when going through a new experience?
